ever seen a dealer do this?!
playing hold 'em at Harrah's in New Orleans. Four or five go to the flop unraised. Someone in the middle bets out, everyone else folds. Dealer (thirty-year old white-trash woman) says, "That's not nice!", and proceeds to burn and deal the turn and the river.
I had to restrain myself from smacking her across the head. Someone, I think Jerry Buss (or some other celebrity amateur) did the same thing on a WPT final table and I shook my head in disgust--but a dealer! For shame. |

Re: ever seen a dealer do this?!
You're correct, it was Jerry Buss on the WPT (travel channel showed a repeat last night.) I've never seen a dealer do it, though.

Re: ever seen a dealer do this?!
i don't understand?
the dealer dealt the turn and river after everybody folded? was there a discrepancy? was the bet out of turn? what did the other people say? did you call the floor? dealing the next card(s) in the widow after a pot has been won w/o showdown is something casinos frown on, i've heard... |

I've seen dealers do it. In the past week as a matter of fact.

Re: ever seen a dealer do this?!
Here in the UK dealers aren't allowed to play. I imagine some of them get pretty frustrated being surrounded by players playing poker and not being able to show that they know how to play too. So it's not uncommon for a dealer to deal the rest of a hand and make some comment like "Nope, you would have missed your flush" or somesuch.

Re: ever seen a dealer do this?!
I'm assuming this was a really low limit table, since you don't mention anyone screaming at her.
Doesn't make a lot of sense for a dealer to do stuff like that if most players at the table are tipping; less hands/hr --> less tips. Probably doesn't behoove you complain to the dealer, though. If it's a low limit game where nobody else cared, you're just going to make yourself look like a jerk, which probably isn't good if it's an overly loose, relaxed game. Maybe mention the incident to the floor or shift manager the next time you're up from the table anyway? scrub |
