Default I finally saw what I\'ve been waiting for!

At what ended up a losing session at the Bike tonight, there was a moment that made it worth it; in fact it may have made ALL my losing sessions worth it. It was truly special.

After a 10-20 hold 'em game I was playing in for several hours broke up (unfortunately, because I was doing well), I found myself in a 6-12 game. It was the loosest, most aggressive game I can remember being in in a long time, and I went through most of my first rack, before the chips were even delivered to me. The girl showed up and said here are your chips sir, to which I said "thanks, can you bring me another rack please." Lovely. Anyway, I ended up carefully navigating my way through that second rack over the next hour, where at least twice I was able to mutter to myself "well done, misplayed on every street." But my moment of glory did arrive, and it had nothing to do with a hand I was in.

If you play in B&M casinos at all, I'm sure you can relate to the unbelievably annoying behavior of some players, constantly asking for new decks, setups, and abusive actions towards others. The worst is, IMO, the way these loser players abuse the dealers when someone, oh my god!, catches their flush on the river. It always kind of pisses me off for some reason when they yell, cuss, and throw their cards. And the poor dealers just have to take it. At the Bike, a couple years back they finally started kicking players out who would fold the cards after a losing hand, and a year or so ago many of the dealers started wearing these little "no abuse" pins, which have the word abuse in the middle with a red circle and line through it. While the dealers almost always just take the awful treatment they get, occasionally a particularly idiotic player would be asked to leave if say he/she threw cards at the dealer which hit him in the face, or something. Well tonight, at the tail end of my seminar on how to make two racks disappear in less than 90 minutes, there was a wonderful moment.

At the end of a this one hand, there were three remaining players who saw the river. Seat 3 caught a card for a straight and took down the pot. The guy in seat 8, just to my left, yelled "sh*t!" and threw his cards right at the dealer's chest, with pretty high velocity. The dealer said nothing. Then immediately following that, the third player who was in seat 9 right next to the dealer, who had gone all in and lost, threw his cards across the table and onto the floor, turned to the dealer and said "you piece of "sh*t", as he began to get up and leave. The dealer leaned over towards the player as he was getting up, (I won't forget this for a long time) and rather calmly said "f*uck you assh*le, you can s*ck me off."

I friggin' loved it! It was dealer's revenge! What a great moment, I think anyway. And as an encore, on the very next hand, when the guy in seat eight who was UTG was not acting, the dealer leaned over to him and said, "so what the hell are you going to do, bet, or throw your cards at me? Go ahead and throw them at me, I don't care." I loved that one too.

I went through what was remaining of my second rack, kicked the dealer down my last few chips, and told him he was my new favorite dealer. He said "thanks." I have to say, even though I ended up down for the night, it sure was memorable, and in a good way. Chalk one up for the dealers.

Couldn't agree less.

Dealers, or anyone in the service industry, simply don't get the luxury of this type of 'revenge.' These players should be banned -- as far as I'm concerned, it can be permanent. But the dealer can't react this way.

The dealer should be fired.

If the dealer felt the players had acted wrong, he should have called the floor. They can't take personal revenge on players.

What if the dealer on the next round reached out and mucked those players cards on purpose in order to get back at them? Or a cocktail waitress spitting in a drink?

Those players should definitely be thrown out of the room or warned by the floor.

However, if the dealer was driving home and saw Osama bin Landen standing in the middle of the road, he should absolutely hit him as hard as possible and them back up and park on the body.

Do you know his name? I'm a regular in the green chip section at the Bike. Though I know it's inappropriate behavior for a dealer, I'd still like to shake his hand.

Hi Sparks:

You may have loved it, and I agree that it was probably fun to watch, but that dealer should be fired. Remember they are paid to do a job, and the type of behavior that you describe is not part of a dealer's job.

As for the offending players, if the dealer has a problem, he should call a floor manager over, describe the problem to them, and then let the floorman handle. In fact, I'm sure that something like this is procedure at The Bike, and if the dealers can't follow proper procedure they will only make these situations worse.

Best wishes,
mason

while i hear and appreciate the sentiments in your post, Mason, I have to disagree.

Sometimes it's ok to take the bull by the f*cking horns and utter a few choice words that somebody has been asking for for a long time. it's not good to do it all the time, of course. but this dealer played it cool, i think.

there is a level of human dignity that i like to retain. if i were a dealer, usually i wouldn't have a problem calling the floor. but sometimes you just gotta slip in a word or two.

Hey Mason,
Thanks for the comments. Whether the dealer should actually be fired might be debatable, but otherwise, I have to agree with all you've said. No question his actions were against policy. But still, I find the childish, illogical, abusive behavior of certain players so dispicable, it was a pleasure (to me anyway) to see one of them get a taste of their own medicine for once.

Hope to see you at the table some time -- uhh, I think

Take care,
Sparks
