Default A8 in the small blind

I have A8c in the small blind and the ENTIRE table limps. ............. anyway I call.

Flop comes 678 two diamonds. I bet out, All but one MP player call to the button who raises, I reraise and all FOLD to the button who calls.

Turn: Blank I bet button calls.

River is the Jd. I bet button calls. MHIG..

Was reraising here a good play or a terrible one... I wanted to think the field as much as I could and I thought 3-betting would do it. Was it a reasonable play or am I insane?

I would check and probably fold on the flop unless I got a chance to limit the field. When you got a chance to do it with the reraise I think that's fine. But this isn't really a situation where I want to commit a lot of chips.

I may get a lot of disagreement with this but I like the re-raise. In fact, I like it a lot. Realize that you are in a very vulnerable position with a highly coordinated flop and this many players. However, when a pot is this large, and you have a somewhat legitimate hand, you have to do everything possible to maximize you chances to win it. I think the re-raise does this. It also gives you a lot of information about the other players hands. Anyone who calls is probably on a strong draw.

Another interesting question is what would have done if the button re-raised after your re-raise. Call, fold? How would you play subsequent streets in that scenario.

I would've checked the flop and then raised or folded depending on the action. If I had a chance to limit the field, I'd checkraise; if I didn't have a chance to get it shorthanded, or if there was a bet and raise before it got back to me, I'd fold. Since you decided to bet out, 3-betting the button's raise is IMPERATIVE! You MUST reraise here to maximize your chances at winning this pot.

Again, I don't like your betting out on the flop, but after that, you played the hand perfectly. Good job!

You know... when I was playing the hand, I was trying to figure out a way to limit the field and with so many people in the pot it seems logical that SOMEONE will bet... too bad I'm an idiot.
