Default Absolutely unbelievable hand / table

Was playing £5/£10, which I guess is the equivalent to $8/$16. Not a massive limit game but getting up to middle limits so you'd expect pretty good players and tight aggressive play right ? Well no. The betting has been capped the last 4 betting rounds by the same 2 guys (normally with 1 or 2 different guys going in with them). The last pot of 18 big bets was taken down by J6o and I saw one hand when 6 saw the flop for 4 bets each. I've been watching for 2 rotations without entering any hands at all, until this one...

I'm in mid to late position and get dealt A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Its folded UTG and as expected Lunatic 1 UTG+1 raises. There is a cold caller and I reraise. Its folded round to the big blind (Lunatic 2) who calls. Lunatic 1 then caps and we all call.

4 to the flop and 16 SB in pot.

It comes 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

Pretty reasonable if you ask me. Normally I'd be bricking it over the possibility of KK but the pre flop raises don't mean much here. Frankly I put my opponents on anything between KK and 27o. Lunatic 2 bets and Lunatic 1 raises. Other guy calls and I stick in a third bet. Of course Lunatic 2 caps and everyone calls.

4 to the turn and 32 SB in pot.

Turn is 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Frankly I have no idea if I have the best hand or not. I suspect I do but wouldn't be surprised to see one of these guys turn over 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Also note at this stage I only have enough chips at the table for 3 big bets.

Anyway Lunatic 2 bets, Lunatic 1 raises, and the other guy folds. I figure there is no point in me just calling with so few chips left so I just reraise to give myself a chance of getting one of them to lay down. Of course I was being very naive as Lunatic 2 caps AGAIN and Lunatic 1 calls.

Ok I'm just watching now wondering whether I should have just folded my aces pre flop and found a less insane table. There are a stupid 54 SB in the pot.

The river comes 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

Unbelievably Lunatic 2 only checks. Lunatic 1 bets and is called.

Lunatic 1 shows K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and takes the smaller sub pot that was made after I ran out of chips. Lunatic 2 mucks (I think he had something like K7 as he muttered about the kicker). So my aces take down a £252 - 25 big bet pot. I left immediately to recover.

Had I wandered into a parallel universe? Shouldn't these people be at a $0.01/$0.02 table or a mental institution? Perhaps more importantly in the long run are these opponents actually profitable as I find playing against these types of players really hard and frustrating.

Opinions here would be appreciated.

I for one have never seen anything like it.

Not a massive limit game but getting up to middle limits so you'd expect pretty good players and tight aggressive play right ?

If it ever gets to the point that I expect tight aggressive play, I will quit this game and pick up tiddlewinks.

LOL!

Maybe I give people too much credit but I can't understand the mentality of people who play games like this and literally throw their money away. They can't get any pleasure out of it whatsoever surely.

Obviously they do enjoy it. Most people have no idea what good play even looks like. *shrug*

As for whether these opponents are profitable... they built a 25 BB pot for you when your hand was plainly obvious and they were taking far the worst of it... and you wonder if they are profitable?

Against super aggressive opponents like this it's usually best to bet/raise when you sure you are ahead, and call with anything reasonable.

I have sat across the felt from so many people with more money than they care to count, and they have fun getting it into every pot. They are there to gamble, they like to gamble and I like them to gamble. It's when I sit down next to cement row that the game really begins to suck.

Wish I had enough money to throw away thousands in minutes and not care.

Yeh that may sound like a stupid question but these guys just make your bankroll swing like mad and make the game feel like gambling. I want to play poker, not gamble.

Amazing - Let me guess...Intercasino ?

I flopped a set of T's there and the betting was capped every round after the flop for a 39 BB pot.

Final board was T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

My UTG opponent showed down 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] for the flopped monster pair of dueces.

Poker is gambling, and if you don't like that, you should probably take up squash instead.

It was William Hill, although I think they're part of the same group ?
