Default Set over set over set: Can Anyone Get Away from This Hand?

$15/30 at Bellagio Saturday night, 3s is twentysomething just sitting down and catching KK and QQ with first two hands, 4s is thirtysomething lady riding rough, 5s is fiftysomething Euro. Flop comes 872, 8 on turn, 7 on river. Flop is capped with re-raises by 3s and 5s, turn is capped getting 3s all-in, river is check/called by 4s. You can guess the hands: 3s has 77, 4s has 22, 5s has 88. 3s announces, "I knew he had this, and I would have checked the river (he was all-in and out of bullets)." Two questions: can the 4s get away from this hand for any reason, and is there any player in the world that could check/call the river with 77?

Without really good reads, I won't fold a set in this scenario. If one of the raisers is an uber-rock then I might find a fold, but it would be rare.

You'd better believe it. There are only three hands that beat 77 at this point - 1 combo of 88 and 2 combos of 87 - but given the action, 1 of those 3 hands is highly likely.
