Default General question

When they say " dont make a bet that will only be called if your beat" isnt that what a bluff is ... dont people make bets all the time that they dont want called ... there bluffing trying to take the pot down ... im a little confused ... help would be appreciated

People use this expression about a hand where you think you might actually have the best hand, even though what you have is pretty weak. Betting isn't +EV because no one is going to call unless you're beat. It's better to try for a free showdown.

Like when you have mid pair and there's alot of draws out there, you will only get called (or worse) reraised by a better hand
