How do I calulate outs?
I am confident that this is a redundant post, but I tried the search and didn't get what I wanted. I know that with only the river card remaining, I can figure my odds of hitting an out by multiplying my out cards by 2, and then adding one (ex. I have a pair of kings, villain has a pair of aces, and only the river remains. My outs = 2 kings. 2 x 2 =4, plus 1, I have a 5% chance of hitting an out). My question is, how do I quickly figure out my odds if both the turn and river remain? Someone told me once, but I have forgotten. Thanks.

Re: How do I calulate outs?
isn't it just the rule of 4 with a slight discount? doing this from memory.
so you have 2 kings x 2 cards. so 4 outs, from 46 cards = 8%-9% .... rule of 4 times 2 kings = 8% chance. pretty close. don't forget though that you'll probably have to put in 2x"big blind" on the turn... i've become confused on say 30% chance on each of turn and river = 50% chance of winning. that's fine, but i have to bet on flop and turn. that's where i intuitively lost my understand. guess i'll have to get our sklansky, miller or yao. |
