...when the stud hi-lo bring-in COMPLETES the bet
Ok, I'll admit I've only been playing hi-lo for about a month, but I've already made a pretty penny at 2/4 and I'm confident in my play. One play I often see but do not understand is when the bring-in foregoes his option to pay the bring-in and just completes the bet instead. I often see it when the upcards are for instance:
K Q 4 A J 9 9 2 Instead of the deuce paying the bring-in, they just make a full bet. I just can't understand any hand you'd want to do this with. If you have a low, you wanna get to 4th street cheaply, and if you have rolled up deuces, you don't want to give away the strength of your hand yet. Am I missing something? Can a more accomplished hi-lo player help me figure out what is going through his mind when he completes? Thanks, ~Bux |

Re: ...when the stud hi-lo bring-in COMPLETES the bet
the standard play is to rarely if ever complete from the bi.. so your instincts are right - however as for seeing 4th street cheaply with low cards i disagree - you're raising on the potential value of the hand such as 345 suited and to a lesser extent a hand with only str8 potential -fortunately we recently had a big discussion on completing the bi:http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...=3#Post4041031
