Stupid question
$30/$60. Solid player limps UTG and I raise 2UTG with . BB calls.
Flop: Its checked to me, I bet, and only UTG calls. Turn: UTG checks and calls. River: UTG bets. Easy raise? |

Re: Stupid question
I am fairly confused what this "solid player" has given his actions so far.
The only hands I see you beating, given his actions so far are KQ and TJ. I would think he would check-raise with TJ on the turn though and probably bet out on the flop with KQ. He probably raises AK or AQ pre-flop or makes a bet or raise on the flop, so I don't think he has these hands. You lose to KJ, QJ, and AT. Altough, with no check-raise on the turn, I think KJ and QJ are unlikely. I think you are most likely looking at AcTc maybe KQ. But I am really confused to his play so I am not sure. I would just call. He could also be taking a stab at the pot and would not call a raise anyway. I am not sure I could fold to a 3-bet either. |

Re: Stupid question
Hey Vehn,
I don't think that I would raise here. What hands with which he would call a raise can you beat? The only one that I can put him on is KQ. From the action on previous streets, AK isn't possible and JT is unlikely. I doubt that any other hand that you can beat would call a raise. So what does he have? Maybe KQ, a slowplayed KJ, or an oddly played QJ or AJ? But the hand that I put him on is Ts9s, assuming that he would limp UTG with that hand. But I hope that I'm wrong... ML4L |

Re: Stupid question
Yeah, Ts9s could definitely be played this way. That is a good poosibility that I did not consider. Another reason to just call.

You lost me there. What is the point of this raise? |

Re: Stupid question
vehn,
at the table in real time i'd really have a hard time putting the solid player on a hand. nothing makes sense and the river bet would throw me off. i'd probably be so confused that i'd just call him down, the problem being that i can't see him calling a raise with hands i beat and i'd be too mixed up react correctly to a three bet. analyzed at my leisure, the solid player's hand that makes the most sense is a Ts9s. ~ rick |
