AK killed my father... and raped my mother!
I was deep in two cheapo MTTs on stars today and AK was the death of me on both.
In this first one, I made what was possibly my first laydown of AKs preflop. PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t800 (9 handed) converter MP2 (t30282) MP3 (t21770) CO (t28040) Hero (t11222) SB (t10828) BB (t10675) UTG (t8128) UTG+1 (t24074) MP1 (t1278) Preflop: Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 4 folds, MP3 raises to t1600, CO raises to t4000, 3 folds, MP3 calls t2400. Flop: (t8350) K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) MP3 checks, CO bets t5600, MP3 folds. Final Pot: t13950 Results in white below: No showdown. CO wins t13950. I was later told that the reraiser had QQ. Why would I fold? WHYWHYWHYYYY? So literally 5 hands later, almost the exact same situation arises. PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t800 (8 handed) converter CO (t29232) Button (t20148) SB (t32640) Hero (t10972) UTG (t10178) UTG+1 (t10825) MP1 (t47540) MP2 (t32302) Preflop: Hero is BB with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. 4 folds, CO raises to t1600, 1 fold, SB raises to t5600, Hero raises to t10922, CO calls t9322, SB folds. Flop: (t27694) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Turn: (t27694) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) River: (t27694) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Final Pot: t27694 Results in white below: Hero has Kc Ac (one pair, kings). CO has Tc Th (three of a kind, tens). Outcome: CO wins t27694. What an awful way to go >_< ---------------------------------------- Now, on to the tourney where I was actually doing REALLY well. I have a history of cashing in big MTTs but never making the final table. I feel it's a curse at this point and I was praying I would overcome it in this tournament as I was the dominant chip leader for quite some time. Little did I know... AK wasn't finished toying with me yet.
