I need something fun to do...
What do you guys do online (besides read OOT and gamble) when you're bored?
I've already done the normal things I usually do... write back to people who emailed me a week ago, surf for porn, listen to MP3's, surf for more porn, browse on EBAY for [censored] I'll never buy, read vavious humor sites... etc So my question is, what interesting/funny/sardonic types of websites would you suggest? Chances are that there are tons of cool sites that are obvious to you guys but I am completely ignorant of. So fire at will, if you will. and BTW www.gaypornforthegoblin.edu is blocked by my homophobic web browser. So don't bother suggesting crap I can't get into, no matter how much you think I might like it. Thanks PG |

I mean while I am stuck in front of the computer for long periods of time.
Primarily during long poker tournaments. PG |

Re: I need something fun to do...
Often I have four tables open while reading OOT, dragondoor.com, The Onion, Civ 4 sites, or some leftover sections of the Sunday paper I haven't gotten to. Also I like to go to Amazon and stuff my wishlist with things to get one day, and read a bunch of reviews on the books I'm considering. A bit of an exchange today about Philip Larking made me call up a search on him on Amazon and read a few poems of his online, and I'm enjoying reading the comments on his poems other people are making. Most are gratifyingly intelligent and often reasonably interesting. I also like going to Roger Ebert's movie review site and looking through his reviews, just picking old favorites out of my head to see what he thought, or looking through his long list of Great Movies.
But I find the best thing to combat being bored while playing [cardgame] is to play more tables. If you don't have two monitors set up so you can play 8 tables, you should try it. Often I'll have two ultra cheap Pokerstars MTT's open for entertainment and six Party tables open for more serious stuff. I usually have PBS on in the background, unless the Simpsons are on. Provides some noise and sometimes I can comprehend long stretches of some documentary or other, or PBS news shows, even while playing 8 tables. Oh, also, I often do gripper work, those really hard Captains of Crush type gripper. That takes a lot of concentration, but you can actually do a truly brutal work-out with them while you're sitting down, and even playing poker. |

Re: I need something fun to do...
I'm never bored! That's the trouble with everybody - you're all so bored! You've had nature explained to you and you're bored with it, you've had the living body explained to you and you're bored with it, you've had the universe explained to you and you're bored with it! So now you want cheap thrills and, like, plenty of them, and it doesn't matter how tawdry or vacuous they are -- as long as it's NEW as long as it's NEW as long as it flashes and [censored]' bleeps in forty [censored]' different colors. Well whatever else you can say about me, I'm not [censored]' bored!" Sorry, I just watched this masterpiece again and I want to quote Johnny every day for a month. |
