Like open raising 4xBB in HU SNGs
I have found I get better results open raising 4xBB from the SB/button than raising 2-3xBB. I generally raise 4xBB half the time, and a mix of 3xBB, 2xBB, limping, and folding the rest. I find the 4xBB puts pressure on my opponent and makes good use of preflop initiative and postflop position. I can make a smaller raise for various reasons or just to mix things up, and it is hard for my opponents to know if I am doing it because I want action or have a marginal hand.

Re: Like open raising 4xBB in HU SNGs
by "better results" do you mean you get more folds? This is a desired outcome OOP, but it is important to note that many players will become suspicious of overly large raises, correctly reading them as not wanting to get called. If your opponents are observant you may find yourself getting played back at more than otherwise.
I like to keep my raise sizes consistent - so if I were to follow a similar strategy to yours I would do it with all hands I open with in the SB. Also, you may not get any/many responses here, as HUSH strategy discussion is predominately limit hold'em. I can move your thread to the single table forum if you'd like. Surf |
