Spin from my Congressman gives me a headache
Dear Anthony:
Thank you for contacting regarding online gambling. It is good to hear from you. I understand the problems that arise from online gambling and its accessibility on the Internet. While I support the technological growth of the Internet, and have authored legislation to make sure the Internet remains the last bastion of capitalism, we cannot allow the Internet to become a cesspool for illegal activity. Traditional forms of legal gambling are regulated by law and controlled by gaming commissions. The Internet should not be exempt from the same requirements of regulation. Please be aware that the House passed H.R. 2143 the Unlawful Internet Gambling Funding Prohibition Act on June 10, 2003. The bill allows federal regulation of internet gambling. I voted for the bill. Thank you for contacting me with your concerns about this issue. Please continue to keep me informed of issues important to you. Sincerely, John A. Boehner |

If the thinking on Capitol Hill is to squash funding options so the US can regulate online gaming, I guess I can live w/the inevitable downswing if it means future card rooms like Bellagio.com. As for the representative John A. Boehner, Maybe Granny can meet up w/him and do some "Lobbying." |

Re: Spin from my Congressman gives me a headache
When you think about it, the internet does only two things; it transfers information and it transfers money.
Something about that strikes fear into those who want to control your activities. |
