Re: 99 river play?
(grunch)
preflop & flop - I'd play it the same turn - I probably would have played it just like you did but you might just check the turn. With all these players staying in you might be behind already and if not there are still 20 overcards that can come to your nines which makes you vulnerable to redraws. If a scare card comes on the river you can call down (or even fold depending on the action) if a safe card comes then you can bet it out with a larger edge. |

there are still 20 overcards that can come to your nines which makes you vulnerable to redraws. [/ QUOTE ] This is actually a good reason to bet. If we make AJ fold here, for instance, he's made a error. By the FTOP, we make money by gaining a share of his incorrectly forfeited equity. |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm not sure you understand the meaning here. This is not a redraw situation. A redraw would be a situation where we make a hand on the turn, but that card gave someone else a new draw. For example: We have KT, flop is 983, turn is T. This gives us top pair, but gives any J an open-ended straight draw. [ QUOTE ] ...if a safe card comes then you can bet it out with a larger edge. [/ QUOTE ] On the river, there really is no "edge". Either we have the best hand or not. (This is more semantics than anything really important. ) |
