Folding an overpair on the flop
People in this forum -- good people -- keep telling me not to fold overpairs against unknowns. But yet I keep doing it.
Villains, alas, are unknown. Re: Folding an overpair on the flop
This looks like a good spot to do it. Happy Birthday.

Re: Folding an overpair on the flop
Happy birthday Pr. Joker.
I'd say a fold is fine given the PF action. Go get drunk already. |

It looks like a good fold to me.
I wonder about the flop bet. It's not like there's much chance of it getting checked through. (I suppose maybe we learn more by betting, though.) |

happy birthday duder [/ QUOTE ] Thanks everybody -- I will get hammered tonight. Also, I'm throwing a monster party tomorrow night; Shant and Jason have already been invited, but the invitation is open to any SoCal 2+2ers that want to come. PM me for details. |

Re: Folding an overpair on the flop
If the preflop capper raises you're likely drawing to a set or UTG has something like AK as well -- so why does it matter if MP folds his AK?

Re: Folding an overpair on the flop
I think you played this hand well. I agree with both the fold and the flop bet. The way this hand is going, it's going to be very expensive to get to a showdown, you're probably already behind, and even if you do have the best hand right now, it's vulnerable.

[/ QUOTE ] Well, okay, but if you're ahead and MP folds, I think he's folding 0-1 unique overcards. That'd be fine if we knew you were ahead (you'd like to put pressure on a 3-outer under those circumstances), but there's a really good chance you're not ahead, and, if you are, they could both have AK (and they're not both folding). I'm still thinking about the information part. While I'm doing that, let me join the Happy Birthday chorus. |
