Hypothetical Hand - The mini-bet
If you were to run into a semi-loose/aggressive player who pulled this on you, how would you react?
Assume for simplicity sake that both players have $100 and we are playing .5/1 Hero is Button with AK [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Villain is MP3 folds to MP3, MP3 calls $1, folds to Hero, Hero raises to $5, SB/BB fold, MP3 calls $4 Flop ($11): 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] MP3 bets $1, Hero raises to $10, MP3 calls $9 Turn ($30): 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] MP3 bets $1, Hero raises to $20, Villain calls $19 River ($70): 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] MP3 goes all in for $65, Hero? |

Re: Hypothetical Hand - The mini-bet
I almost think its worth paying off just to see what he has to make a note. Almost.
It's only TPTK, and unless I have a solid read that he's an idiot, I'm folding here. |

Re: Hypothetical Hand - The mini-bet
Easy fold. If you were OOp and checked to him then the raise could be a missed flush. As it is the river all in would be suicidal as a bluff.
Min bets either mean 1. Draw 2. Weak hand thats blocking 3. Monster The river push allows us to eliminate the first two leaving the moster as the most likely hand. |

Re: Hypothetical Hand - The mini-bet
Fold if >67% of the time villan has either 55, 33 or KK??
This is easily a busted flush draw or a donkey with KQ-K10 >33% of the time. |

Re: Hypothetical Hand - The mini-bet
If you say that it would be a suicidal bluff, but then advocate folding, then wouldn't it be a great bluff?
I've seen this kind of thing a few times, and usually it was either a busted draw or a monster hand. I was just wondering which one of these types of hands would do the best playing like this. |

Re: Hypothetical Hand - The mini-bet
When this kind of thing happens to me, I often find myselfr thinking that if the opponent *really* wanted to double-up, he'd often check-raise.
It's a little thin, becasue almost as often as the opponent has a marginal hand that doesn't want a call, he has a strong hand that does. But I think he has a marginal hand > 33% of the time here regardless, and this is a call becasue of that. |
