I would call. He could have a missed flush draw and be using the J as a scare card. He's unknown, call down and make him a known

Think you should have raised the flop, and then checked behind if your K didn't come. As it played out, I'd call the river but expect to lose. Either that or raise and fold to a three-bet, but that seems like horrible advice.

Hero calls expecting to lose. Take out the rake and you're getting roughly 8:1 on your call. IMHO you'll be good here often enough to show a profit, since 2/4 players in general and Pacific players in particular are capable of betting with all manner of strange holdings.

thanks for the advice guys, was on the verge of folding despite the 1:8, but as Drew mentioned it's pacific... called,he showed 99.
raise the flop for a free card or just thinking i'm still good?

Just call. Keeps him bluffing a missed hand. Free card plays can often just end up being more expensive then just calling down.

you have to keep the lead on flop IMHO, calling is just too passive and puts you in a rough spot later... could be used for several purposes...
1.) free card on turn certainly wouldnt hurt
2.) possibility of having him drop the hand to a turn bet even if a blank hits (likely given the hand he had, but unlikely from any player with a jack and an undercard on turn)
3.) defining his hand... if he 3 bets you, you have a much clearer picture of where youre at in the hand...

any way i see it... reraising flop against this type of player is the correct play... mainly for the free card, but if you've seen a lack of stubborness in him with mediocre hands, odds are he'll drop on turn...

Umm. These two points are mutually exclusive.

Well, I guess he could open fold before you check for your free card.

I'm just being snarky. Welcome to the forum.
