Default Pre 2+2 forums I would have folded this.

I've learned a lot from this board. I used to be afraid to make calls with 2nd pair. Now I do it with confidence.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t100 (8 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

UTG+1 (t1090)
MP1 (t3300)
MP2 (t910)
CO (t3310)
Hero (t4070)
SB (t1410)
BB (t3930)
UTG (t6680)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
5 folds</font>, Hero raises to t200</font>, 1 fold</font>, BB calls t100.

Flop: (t450) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)</font>
BB bets t300</font>, Hero calls t300.

Turn: (t1050) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)</font>
BB bets t400</font>, Hero calls t400.

River: (t1850) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)</font>
BB checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: t1850

Also.. Very tight table. I would never normally ever raise this hand in a million yrs.

I like it. Most players won't donk with a good hand. He probably just figured the flop missed you and he wants to take it cheaply.

If he bets the river.. then its a little tricky.

this looks very standard. i can't imagine folding on that kind of board.

and you would never raise a suited gapper on the button when folded around to you? in a million years?

i hope you just mean in the first four levels, cause i'm raising the top 50% hands on the button when its folded to me

yea, min-raise at these blind levels isn't quite enough to get the fold equity you want.

Unless a min-raise is going to make the BB commit a significant part of his stack he should call with almost any two. He's getting more than 3-1 pot odds. You can't make it that easy. When you see how many more folds you get with a 3BB raise you'll probably start raising with alot more hands.

but watch out, if you think you have observant opponents, make sure you vary your stealing amount, especially if a steal gets to showdown.

some people subconsciously raise different amounts to steal than a real raise.

and just as a word of advice, practice taking good notes on the two players to your left and right, this will help with pf shenannigans.

sry for the ramble

Did 2+2 teach you to min-raise?
