Unknown Donkbet - Raise the river?
Sorry, no reads in the hand. I feel i played this way too passively, a turn raise seems counterproductive, but should i be raising the river here?

Re: Unknown Donkbet - Raise the river?
I think a raise is in order (on the river). We will see a lot of worse J's and 5's here.

Raise that river. A 3 is possible, but a weaker jaxup is more likely. Pun intended.

Re: Unknown Donkbet - Raise the river?
Why are you folks raising the river and not the turn? Just a WA/WB line?
I also give more credit for 55, J5 or trips than the guys above, as slowplayed top pair is pretty rare in my experience--especially in multiway pots. I suspect we're behind more often than we're ahead--you played it fine IMO. |

Re: Unknown Donkbet - Raise the river?
BB, random cards from an unknown, I call down.
If Hero wasn't the PFR, I'd go for a river raise. Villian has donked into aggression. I give him 60% credit for the 3. You don't want to raise the turn here. |

Re: Unknown Donkbet - Raise the river?
BB was in good position to checkraise you, and probably would have if he hit the J. I think it's more likely he has you beat with trips or 2 pair. Just call down.

He very probably has 2nd pair or a weak j and does not want to give a free card. I think waiting for the river to put a raise in is perfect. Edit: I forgot small pocket pairs that play like this. |

Re: Unknown Donkbet - Raise the river?
why do you think a turn raise is counterproductive? if he has a jack, he'll most likely pay you off. so raising the turn or the river is the same. the problem with waiting for the river is the possibility of a check/call when he would have paid the extra turn bet as well as the river.

Re: Unknown Donkbet - Raise the river?
I would raise the river. I think you are ahead >50% of the time here.

Re: Unknown Donkbet - Raise the river?
Would a raise the turn and fold to a 3-bet be out of line here. Raising the turn can work for both a value and information standpoint.
