Default MNF - Chargers/Steelers

Predictions?

I'm a San Diego fan. I've thought a lot about this game. I feel with 2 weeks of preparation Pittsburgh's defense will be very motivated and have a pretty solid gameplan to slow down the explosive Charger's offense.

If the Chargers are going to win this game, they will need a quick start like they've had the last two weeks. If the Steeler's D is successful early I'm afraid the San Diego coaching staff will be unable to make the changes which will be necessary to keep the Steelers guessing.

The Charger's defense has shown some solid improvement each week, most notably in shutting out the Pats in the 2nd half last week. We'll see how the secondary holds up against Roethlisberger.

Finally, the Steelers get Duce Staley and Jerome Bettis back on offense. Willie Parker will still get the most carries... I feel Pitt's strong run against San Diego's tough run D is an intangible in this game.

All that being said I like SD in the game:

Chargers 31, Steelers 20.

If San Diego can confuse Big Ben the way that NE did Bolts in a walk.

I don't see this one ending with only a 3 point spread.

Default Al Michaels is such a [censored] idiot

Hines Ward clearly has possession when the referee rules he's being touched by Jammer. While I'm not positive Jammer actually touched Ward (I think he did, but I'd like to see it again), it's clear that Ward didn't juggle the ball; as soon as it hit his hands/body, he had and maintained possession.

Also earlier in the drive, on the Donnie Edwards "interception" (which I think was an interception), there was a flag on Hines Ward for not lining up on the line of scrimmage. Al then said that this penalty nullified the play, so even if Schottenheimer wanted to challenge, he couldn't have, because there was no play. Um, illegal formation is not a play-killer (like a false start is). Marty could have challenged and declined the penalty.

Just pathetic.

Oh that call on the punt was BS.

He had is opportunity to 're-catch' and could not reach the [censored] ball.

We are pissed now.
