MPG to animated gif file

Can anyone help me out with something I recorded that is in a .mpg format to get to a animated gif file so it can end up as an avatar on a forum of mine?

open it in Imageready and then "save it for web" as a .gif

What do I do to cut the video down in to the part I want to save.

So anyway to get around the Trial being in the top left corner of the .gif?

Yes, buy the program [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]
