AKo hand 25NL at Paradice
Paradise Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (7 handed) converter
SB ($26.55) BB ($32.00) UTG ($27.02) MP1 ($39.15) Hero ($33.40) CO ($27.05) Button ($66.35) Preflop: Hero is MP2 with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.25. UTG raises to $0.8, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.80, 1 fold, Button calls $0.80, 2 folds. Flop: ($2.75) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) UTG bets $1, Hero raises to $4, Button calls $4, UTG folds. Turn: ($11.75) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets $11, Button calls $11. River: ($33.75) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets $17.6, Button calls $17.60. Final Pot: $68.95 ---------------------------------------------- Now, UTG has min raised several times pf to show A high kicker, but never to 0.80. I put him on a higher pp and after my flop re raise he folds and say "I had KK". Do you think I should have re raised pf? My read extended from 10/10-A/A and it just turned out I lucked out from being dominated. When, if ever, do you re raise pf with AKo and to what. I havn't been in this game for very long but during my stay the button has gone from $106 to what you see here pf ($66). He has contiually lost money calling things he shouldnt be during my stay. I put him on anything from AQ to A rag. Seeing as A rag was a possibility, do I play the same way seeing as a full house could have me beat? Thanks. |

Re: AKo hand 25NL at Paradice
Preflop play depends. Sometimes I reraise AK, sometimes I just call. Generall speaking I want to avoid creating big pots preflop without at least some idea of how people play, so a preflop call has a lot of merit.
This looks fine - raise this flop because there is a flush and a straight draw possible and you cannot allow other players to draw for free... turn bet, again, same principle. The 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] isn't a great card but isn't awful either. River is interesting. There's only one ace left in the deck... if my opponent is an aggressive player I will frequently check/call to induce a bluff from a missed flush or straight draw, if he's more of a loose/passive type then I will just value push like you did. |

To be honest, I didn't notice the straight possibility the 9 presented.

Re: AKo hand 25NL at Paradice
It's unlikely the 9 helped Villain. If he was on a straight draw, he would've had the 9 in hand already (unless he had 56, calling with just a gutshot (TJ) is unlikely (though possible)).
It feels more like either Ax or a flush draw that caught a pair on the way. I have seen TT and JJ shown in this situation as well. A set feels unlikely, because he would've probably raised on the turn, right? [ QUOTE ] He has contiually lost money calling things he shouldnt be during my stay. [/ QUOTE ] All the more reason to push the money in there, he'll call with AQ-A2, and if he has a full house, that's just bad luck and he's getting my money. |
