1/2 6 max vs 2/4 full? (NC)
Granted i've been really lucky this week, (2 royals and a hot run of cards) but i've made a ton at the 1/2 6 max tables, and have my BR high enough for 2/4. My question is, should I stay at the 1/2 6 max untill I can move to the 3/6 6 max, or should I go to 2/4 full and then 3/6?
Thanks |

Re: 1/2 6 max vs 2/4 full?
I went from .5/1 full to 1/2 short to 3/6 short. I would reccommend this plan.
Just a quick word of advice. Don't let your ego get the best of you after a good run at 6max. You will have a downturn. If you aren't prepared there is a lot of potential for tilt trying to force hands went the cards aren't coming. |

2/4, easier to build a more solid roll for 3/6 6m and get used to the changes in aggression level.

Re: 1/2 6 max vs 2/4 full? (NC)
I tried to make the jump from 1/2 6-max to 3/6 6-max after running really well at 1/2, and I just went back to 1/2. I ran at about -.7 BB/100 over 20K hands at 3/6. I would advise trying the 2/4 6-max at PokerStars, I've heard it's not much harder than the 1/2 6-max at Party. That's what I had intended to do, but I had a lot of trouble funding my PokerStars account, got impatient, and jumped to the 3/6 game at Party. I ran really bad right at the beginning, and I think it kind of screwed up my game for the rest of the time I was there, because each bet that I lost equated to three bets I had won at 1/2. It just kind of got in my head I think.
The thing I would recommend the most if you do go straight to 3/6 is trying it on a Saturday night first - I know it kind of stinks not to be more social on a Saturday, but in my limited experience the games really are softer. The one time I played 3/6 on a Sat. night, it was really not much harder than 1/2 on a Wednesday. The other thing I would advise is to try to put more time into table selection at first. You can find 3/6 games that play not much tougher than 1/2 games, you just have to look a little harder. Good luck. |

datamine the hell out of 3/6 and practice table selection like the other guy said and they play virtually the same. 2/4 full is boring as hell.

What is a solid BR for 3/6 6 max?

500bb.
I would avoid moving up at 300bb, since moving down is going to hurt more since your skipping a limit. |

Re: 1/2 6 max vs 2/4 full? (NC)
My plan is to 2 table 1/2 6 max, and 2 table 2/4 full. I haven't played full in a while, so it should be interesting. If I can deal w/ the slower play of 2/4, i'll 4 table that and build a solid roll.
Thanks guys. |

Re: 1/2 6 max vs 2/4 full? (NC)
I would advise 2/4 full because you profit more than 1/2 (6) and the aggression level is more akin to 3/6.
I took a shot at 3/6 with 150 BBs dedicated (only $1500 total BR). I played conservatively (like 19/15) and stayed away from marginal situations, and I table-selected well. I cruised up and after 30k hands I was at 5/10. I'm not safely at 5/10 (over 1k BBs) and I'm really glad I took a shot. 2/4 was good for seeing more aggression, though, and a lot of times it's SH there, too. M |

Re: 1/2 6 max vs 2/4 full? (NC)
I hate playing full. I tried the move from 1/2 6 max to 2/4 full, but I wasn't happy, so I played the stars 2/4 for a while and then took a shot at the 3/6 6 max. Stars 2/4 6 max plays like the party 1/2, IMO, but it got me used to having more money on the table. Then I took a shot at 3/6 6 max, and I've been playing that happily for a little while now.
