Default Time Warner Cable censors alternative media mogul

Just found out today that Time Warner Cable has taken the liberty to deny all of its customers access to Alex Jones' websites, www.prisonplanet.com , www.prisonplanet.tv and www.infowars.com .

For those who don't know, Alex Jones has been at the forefront of the "something stinks about 9/11" movement. This kind of censorship severely pisses me off. Just goes to show how this media company is willing to skew the news we receive. Yes Virginia, America now has PRAVDA.

If I can find out more info on the situation I'll post it.

So what is it exactly that he claims and shows on his websites?

Also I don't see this differently than a TV station deciding which shows it broadcast. Technically he still has his website and his speech, just not over timwarners service

This is horrible, but does it really matter. Isn't it a customer problem. If people want access to the product, they can take their money elsewhere. If it is a monopoly given by the government, then I think you have a good case on your hands.

If it is a free market, then it should answer to the market. If it is a monopoly, they should and can be sued...

Glad you added the word "liberty" in there, as you must know that Time Warner should be free to do this and not be forced to provide anyone with anything.

If you don't like it, don't buy it!

To an extent, I agree with this. However, I'm pretty sure what they claim to be selling is "internet access" not "access to some websites that we approve of". Now, if they say up front, we're placing the following restrictions on your service, it's fine with me.

As far as alternative media goes, yes.

I realize Time Warner has a right to cut off, restrict and censor access to websites for its customers. But to cut off access to websites and not give an iota of explanation is cowardly. Not to mention that this censorship is solely based on political views and a distinct disrespect for free speech.

I have a subscription to a service on one of those websites and now I can't access it due to Time Warner's sudden censorship.

The real problem is Alex Jones' message is making an impact on too many people, waking too many people up.

I think what Time Warner is doing is wrong even though Alex Jones is a kook.

If people really want to visit his sites, they can still do so through a proxy server.

Why would they bother censoring him if he was just a kook? You know, China blocks access to websites that express dissent toward the government too.

I haven't been able to find any free proxy sites.
