Default But I have top pair - A8o

Party Poker 5/10 6-max (6-handed)

Hero is BB with 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].

Preflop: MP (68/13 loose/passive postflop) raises, SB (loose/passive) calls, Hero calls.

Flop (6 SB): Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, MP bets, SB calls, Hero checkraises, MP 3-bets, SB folds, Hero calls.

Turn (6.5 BB): 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero ???

Do you still have your cards? What should the plan be?

I want to fold to that 3-bet, but it would be really tough. Provided I called it, I would be check-calling down and probably not happy about doing so.

I really don't like the flop check/raise. You're behind a huge part of his range, you aren't folding anyone with hearts, and probably not a gutshot.

either fold preflop or lead on flop and see a showdown

if passive post flop means i should be scared when he 3 bets the flop (ie he wont have a worse A on the flop) then i check/call the rest of the way - however this plan offends my general rule of not paying to draw unless i'm happy to raise when i hit so i will probably be lured into more action than that

i would checkcall down or bet and fold to a raise if you feel comfortable with that line.

I would definitely have led into the pfr on the flop in an effort to drive out the 3rd guy. If the pfr is really passive enough I can fold when he 3-bets the flop. Once the 8 hits the turn--well, I guess we should be careful what we wish for--I just check and call the turn and river and still expect to lose.

I would fold that flop versus a loose-passive 3-bet. You are against a stronger Ace 99% of the time or a very very strong draw (you are probably a 50 50 at best). I'd be surprised if he had less than two pair here. That being said, c/c turn and c/c river to get to showdown as cheaply as possible.

Call down. You're probably behind against this loose-passive opponent, but you have to get to showdown here. The freecards are unfortunate, but tolerable HU.

By the way, I bet the flop.
