***2005 WSOP Main Event Spoilers Below***
I'm primarily a limit and SNG player, but I dabble in small buy-in MTTs, mostly Stars micros, and have therefore been lurking here for a while. After placing third in one about a month ago, last night I posted my first win, in a $1 stars tourney. Like most wins, I had a couple lucky hands, and made a few tough laydowns I couldn't have made w/o the help of this forum. Stuff that's probably routine for the experts (not going crazy w/ middling aces, knowing when to push/call, etc.), but takes a while for newbies to grasp, was key to victory. Anyway, I was a below average stack the entire tourney, right up until there were about seven people left and I quadrupled up w/ my AK verus 66 and 66 (seriously). I just kept reminding myself of Joseph Hachem hanging around and hanging around, before making his big move. It was even heads-up, and was still over in about ten hands. I outkicked the pansy big stack on Axx board to double up, and with the ensuing 22-1 chip advantage, it was just a matter of time until my first win and over $200. I know it's very small potatoes compared to what most here play for, but I'm still floating on the high from winning. I just wanted to say thanks for the words of wisdom, and to encourage everyone to keep playing well and making smart decisions. Your wins will come, however big or small they might be. Good luck. |

Nice job bro.
And I know what you mean about Hachem. I was following that final table on the internet but finally got too tired and went to bed when there were 5 left. When I woke up and saw that Hachem won, I just remember thinking "wow, that dude hardly did anything when I was following the action and then he won?... damn" So yea. Good job. |
