When are we running out of this stuff, and what are we gonna do then?

Everybody keeps telling me "They" are finding new sources of energy.

Well, ive worked in resarch labs, and i've got news sister, it ain't that easy.

They already have new sources of power. Nuclear, coal, natural gas. We have the technology today to convert all oil using machinery and transportation to utilise these power sources (namely through hydrogen and electric cars and machinery) fairly cheaply. There is enough proven, easily extractable uranium on the planet with current, off the shelf technology to power the earth for over 10,000 years, plus enough in the oceans to power it for about 100 million years.

Do a wikipedia search on power sources, alternatives to oil, alternatives to plastic, etc.

And yeah, this has been discussed thoroughly in politics and SMP.
