Re: A 5/10 hand - trip 9s on the river
He likely has some sort of AT hand as opposed to flush draw or set, I wouldn't betting a TON here as you won't get called by much, I'd say 1/2 pot or so, had it been the other 9, you could probably get away with a much bigger bet.

alright, I'm just giving my input because I feel like saying what I would do. I am quite aware that you and other people in this forum probably have better advice.
Given no reads I'd just bet out about $300 on that river. If he raises I can put him on a full house or a flush without much trouble and fold. If he has any high card +10 he will probably call that size bet (maybe its a tad too high). if he had 810 then he's probably folding. |

Yeah, these were my thoughts exactly, just thought I might stir some controversy. Guess this was pretty standard.

Re: A 5/10 hand - trip 9s on the river
Any merit in check raising the turn given how weak his bet looks? You'd think that with any reasonable hand he'd really want to protect it. Given you have a decent amount of equity when called I'd think this would be a decent line. What were your plans for the river if you didn't improve? Any bluff cards?
