As an Epidemiologist by education, I'm gonna have to go ahead and agree with this declaration.

Not for the research that they are doing. But rather for letting this hit the press. They haven't shown anything that the public needs to know about, and their work has absolutely no applicable utility yet. Anyone who needs to know about this already does.

And to go ahead and be a nit... I looked at the source publication, and I would also argue that they didn't control for enough potential confounders.
