Please help me out. I normally play SnGs so I really don't have any idea what course of actions to take here. There is no way that someone can get away with this, is there? I e-mailed empire poker. Is there ANY chance I can get my money back here?

Unfortunately, you won't get your money back.

I'm sure this doesn't help you out too much now, but this is a strong reason to play at the "NO-DP" (Disconnect-Protect) Tables offered by Party and its skins in the future.

Default The OP Was Lucky........His Opponent Disconnected.

Sorry....but I'm not so sure the disconnect was intentional.
If the guy had KJ or KT this would make it suspcious.

You played the hand pretty lousy in my opinion. If you are trying to make bank by bullying people to laying down TPTK you'll never make it to the higher limits. Based on my experience, if there were no disconnect problems and this guy was a typical player, the guy would have agonized for the entire time limit and THEN MADE THE CALL (85% chance). Especially since you were not playing at a higher limit. IF ANYTHING YOU WERE LUCKY HE DISCONNECTED, it saved YOU money........

I have been victimized by disconnects but they were a lot more clear cut than the example you provided. I'm giving the guy the benefit of the doubt.

If anything, I think you should thank your lucky stars he did disconnect after the lousy way you played that hand.... As a matter of fact, last night a guy tried this bully play on me last night at the 5/10nl tables. He moved all-in at the river and I had AA on a KJT board. After agonizing for a while, I called his all-in overbet and cleaned him out. I was able to make this play because I had my opponent scouted.

you were betting on the end for a bluff right? You might have gotten lucky you got anything back from this pot.

that said the disconnct policies always have been bad. they favor the angle shooter. anytime you make funny rules to protect someone you actually help the wrong side.

Yep, never try to bluff a player "X". Make sure you scout them out first to make sure they are capable of laying down TPTK, AA, KK, etc...

I think the OP was LUCKY his opponent disconnected.

LOL, you should be HAPPY he DP'd your ass, b/c he surely was calling if he couldn't abuse that. Maybe next time try to play good poker instead of getting angry with opponents who go easy on you by DP'ing you.

Default Move Down a Level

Do yourself a favor and move down a level. You are going to get your clock cleaned making plays like these.
