Question about PokerAce HUD and GameTime+

sorry for the noob question but with regards to PA HUD and GT+, are these only useful if you are able to download hand histories frequently?

For instance, on Absolute Poker, the histories are sent via email which takes time.

It will still show stats for people you have played with before. So I would say it's semi-useful.
