Default profitability of internet vs. bricks/mortar

probably been done to death here, but i'm a new poster.

what are people's experiences about profitability of online vs. physical casinos??

my experience is that bricks and mortar is potentially very profitable but you don't get in enough hands... multi-tabling online is pretty profitable, but seems like online has got alot tighter whereas i just don't think people at bricks/mortar can control themselves (i find it challenging myself, although i've almost always been tighter and more aggressive than everyone else, and i think after reading miller and yao king that i've been too loose/aggressive).

thanks in advance!!

200 hands an hour four tabling vs. 30-40 hands an hour in a B and M. Not even close if you are a solid four tabler at 5/10+. Plus the rake is a bitch in B&M.

gildwulf, i tend to agree.... so why are people fascinated with B&M??? more of a "poker experience".... pretty straight-forward to win $$$$ but not enough hands, as you said.

to 4 table on internet (probably stick to 2-3 tables, which i've done but i don't have good technology), do i need 4X the bankroll???.... good thing is that my experience at full tables on the internet has been great. shorthanded has just proven too hard on the bankroll with its extreme volatility.

thanks for the response.

One difference is, to help offset the hands per hour, that you can play at a higher limit in B&M because the games are softer online. Do not compare multi-tabling 2/4 online to playing 2/4 live. Rather, compare it to 5/10 live.

jack, yup... that's my experience! live poker is very soft but doesn't move fast enough... too easy for good players to multi-table online (while watching TV if they're only doing 2 tables) and can be very patient waiting for cards, which is terrible for profitability.

live is unbelievably soft at times, but like i said, i need more hands.

The profitability per hand is much higher in B&M, as you noted. That doesn't offset the silly low number of hands you get dealt per hour...

But it's more fun to play live, it's a more social experience. Playing online is a very lonely job.

Ya I agree a winning 2/4 internet player would crush the 5/10 game live.

Assuming you never go to the cage with more than a few $k there is no record of your financial activity. I miss that, roughly a 30% spiff.
