Default Transporting money to Vegas.

Quick question.

I am not entirely comfortable lugging around thousands of dollars and I was thinking I would get a bank check at home (boston) and cash it in Vegas?

Would that be possible? Are there banks inside Casinos? Has anyone done this?

On the way back I was thinking of turning whatever money i have left over into a Money Order.

Travelers checks make more sense than a bank check. You can cash them at any casino cashier cage with proper identification. If you must use a bank check call the casino cashier and ask if they will give you instant cash for it. For only a few thousand dollars I use an under-the-clothes money pouch (they are undetectable unless security gets really intrusive) that you can buy at any luggage store at the mall. They sell them for wearing either around the waist or wraped around your calf. If you are about to get searched by security tell them about the money pouch first and explain why you are using it.

What bank do you use? When I went, a friend of mine who uses US Bank went to their location just about a mile or so down Flamingo, past Bally's. You could always just go there and make your withdrawal. But again, this would require you to lug around a few G's in town. At least you avoid tossing it around in the airport...

When I opened this, I thought "there can't really be ANOTHER thread about this can there?"

But I was wrong. Run a search man, this has been re-hashed about 4 zillion times, but that's just a rough figure so don't quote me on it.

I love when a 2500 hears it from a 17.

Your welcome. I forgot to mention that if you win a bunch you don't have to get a money order. The casino will give you a check if you want it.

When I went to Vegas, I wired $5K to the Bellagio. This is the safest and easiest way to do it if you plan on gambling where you stay.

Get comfortable. That's waht I did.

Also: AmEx traveler checks can be had very cheaply/free directly from AmEx depending on what kind of member you are. Getting them from a bank is a ripoff.
