i don't know him well - seems typical.

Yes.
If you bet on the turn he'll only fold worse hands.If you check behind you can induce a bluff on the river. Also you have 6 outs to redraw. |

i believe gemmer is right. you will induce a bluff out of him lots of times on the river and i'd much rather spend my one big bet showing it down in this situation versus risking a turn check raise that will unquestionably make me fold. the only thing you risk having beat you on the river that wouldn't have called your turn bet is ace rag of some sort that catches a miracle ace on the river.
