Default Villain running real hot, should i have checked this lil set.

Villain is taking a shot at the bigger game normally plays 300 max, he bought in for 600 and has been running hot as fire..upto about 5k now. I am pretty sure he is also "lifted"
5/10 20 to open...i have about 4k.
1 limper(for 20), he makes it 50 from MP.
I have 33 in the sb, and i call...go to the flop hu.
flop is K83 rainbow
Should I check this pretty harmless flop?
I bet and he folded.
I am thinking it might be a better idea to have checked this and let him fire.
I was hopig the king hit him.
Does this change a lot if the flop is A high?
I am pretty sure if it is 2 tone, the correct answer is to lead into him.
Maybe im just pissed off he folded.

I'd say this is standard. I like the size of your bet. I dont think you can play this any different without knowing any more on him.
