Default Is not pushing this turn a mistake?

5-5 500 max at tstone, im am in co, 4 limpers to me, i limp with 98o
flop is 984 2 hearts.
Bet 40, i raise it 100 on top..he calls...now i know hes got a set of 4's(against this player it cannot be anything else.)
Turn is a 3rd heart...how often do u push this turn for like 400 more to get him to lay down bottom set.
turn is a 3rd heart

This depends heavily on the player in question. If i was 100% sure villian had a set of 4's, and villian was a typical player, i would NEVER make this move.

Of course, i'd never be certain villian had a set of 4's.

I am 100000000000% percent sure he has a set set of 8's is unlikely as i have an 8 and so is a set of 9's
...against this player no other hand is possible.
BTW, how are the games at the woods these days..havent been there since i got back?
u gonna be there next weekend?

You didnt say if one of your cards was a heart or not. If one is and you are positive of your read, then pushing is the only way to go since you will win 30% of the time anyways and your fold equity is decent. When you said offsuit, ill take that to mean non suited and no hearts, then I'm not sure if pushing is smart becuase he may talk himself into a call trying to fill up anyways. It's too expensive to get people off sets n flush boards and straight boards.

pushing turn is huge mistake without a read that guy is capable of BIG laydowns (and yes this is a biglaydown).

impossible to answer this on a strategy forum... that said, Ciaffones NL book makes a point of this general concept: bluff when you believe other guy is weak... don't bluff trying to induce a big laydown...
