Default How often do you use q-tips?

I was cleaning out my ears every time I got out of the shower but never found any ear wax. Now, I clean my ears about every 3-4 days and find a nice yellow suprise.

You realize when you use q-tips you really just jam the wax further in there?

Ditto. Its not meant to be jammed deep into your ear.

I actually had a friend who lost 50% of his hearing because he used them twice a day. He had to start using that suction thing put in babies noses when they are born to suck the wax out.

Those are really the best way to clean them. Squirt warm water in there.

Also, ear candling rules!

The suction thingys are just as bad. You're talking about the ones that blast water into your ears?

I got a nasty nasty infection and a blown ear drum using those damned things. Stupid General Practitioner doctor who didn't know [censored] about ears recommended it to me.

Wax should come out of your ears on it's own. If your ears make a lot of wax, go to a ENT doctor every few months.

Standard disclaimer: Nothing smaller than your elbow should go in your ear. Since your elbow won't fit, that means nothing should. I will agree that Q-tips in the ears feels pretty damned good. Cleaning your outer ear with Q-tips is fine, just don't go digging for gold.
