Act III hand
This one is probably a no brainer but maybe not. I always second guess myself so I'm interested in some responses.
Act III satellite tourney at Foxwoods. About 90 entries with top 9 getting entry into WPT $10,000 buy-in ME in November. 3000 starting chips. I'm card dead for the first 3 levels. Didn't get one pair and my best high card hand was ATo. We're at 100/200 into the 4th level and after posting the BB, I've got about 1800 chips left. UTG who was, I thought, a rock, raised to 600. It got folded around to me and I have AQo. What do you do? A. Call, see the flop and push if you hit. B. Call, see the flop and push even if you don't hit. C. Move all-in pre-flop. D. Fold Grandgnu, you're barred from answering. |

Re: Act III hand
Easy fold based on your read. 60/40 if not worse against his tight range of hands.

Re: Act III hand
AQ is a great hand if you are the one raising, but against a tight player who raised pretty standard fold...
..though it sucks... |

Re: Act III hand
After not getting a playable hand for 3 1/2 levels AQ looked like AA and I pushed all-in. As my opp was asking the dealing "how much more is it" I said to myself "wtf did I do that for, there isn't anything he could have that I could beat".
Then I prayed he had a pair JJ or worse and after he called he showed me TT. I hit Q on the flop and thought I had gottenlucky and got away with it but he turned a set and that was it. On the way home I told my wife who knows nothing about poker that if I hadn't been so card dead that AQ wouldn't have looked so good. Poker is such a pyschological game. |

Re: Act III hand
80 people left. This was the first hand he raised before the flop but I knew from how he played some of the other hands he was a conservative player.

Re: Act III hand
yeah i like these 'see-through' players, oop and with AQo, i'm def not calling knowing that i might be folding on the flop, after i called for a big % of my stack, this is such a gut reaction decision for me, with no read i'm 60-40 in favor of push i think hoping that a 3x raise is screaming more of 88-jj, putting me in a coinflip where i need to greatly accumulate chips
with a tight read on pf raiser i'm probably chunking this so analyzing the take a flop, you have 9bb after posting, so after calling you will have 7 bb yeah, this is def a fold/push dep on orig raiser and my read eesh tough hand though, and bad luck, still undecided tom |
