Default Watch Out North Korea and Terrorists

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...001053_pf.html

Looks like North Korea's stalling over the nuclear talks may result in a nasty pre-emptive nuclear surprise. Also, don't plan any vacations to Saudia Arabia should nuclear terrorism ever occur in the USA.

Just when I thought our administration couldn't look any worse in the eyes of the international community -

I guarantee you, if GWB decides to drop nukes in a preemptive strike, things are gonna get really ugly for the US in a REAL FAST hurry.

Default A Hypothetical

This hypothetical is much more interesting.

Let's say NK launch a nuclear missle that destroyed San Fransico. The reason is that Kim just went crazy one day and launched it (a plausible scenerio).

What is the approriate response.

yah, I hope not -

but if they find massive oil reserves in North Korea, build a fallout shelter. We have been known to launch "preemptive" strikes for the purposes of acquiring oil, whether or not said strike was justified.

after it happened, some old guy would take his grandson to the ruins and the spot and show him where San Francisco was.

And the kid would say "Grandpa, what was here?"

He'd say - "This used to be the city of San Francisco - the city by the bay - a very progressive and vibrant city"

and the kid would go "What happened?"

and the Grandpa would go "well, a nuke was dropped on the city by the North Koreans"

and the kid would go "Grandpa, what are North Koreans?"

and Grandpa would say "extinct"

I'm not sure this is true. I wouldn't give NK more than a week to live, but I think it would be taken down by a conventional advance supported by nuclear attacks against troop concentrations. It would be hard to justify annihilating a civilian population based on the acts of their leader.
