Default AK too passive?

Was i not aggressive enough here + was i correct to fold? The villian is a Loose passive player. I'm on a bad streak at the moment and i'm worried i am playing too passively as a result trying to compensate.

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
UTG calls, 1 fold</font>, MP1 calls, Hero raises</font>, 4 folds</font>, BB calls, UTG calls, MP1 calls.

Flop: (8.50 SB) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players)</font>
BB checks, UTG checks, MP1 checks, Hero bets</font>, BB calls, UTG calls, MP1 folds.

Turn: (5.75 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)</font>
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets</font>, BB raises</font>, UTG folds, Hero calls.

River: (9.75 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)</font>
BB bets</font>, Hero folds.

Final Pot: 10.75 BB

On the flop the large number of players made me feel it was fairly likely someone had 2 pair, a straight or at least a big draw. I was hoping for a safe card on the turn to calm my concerns. The 9 failed to do this plus the cr worried me so when i didnt improve on the river i folded. Good laydown? Too weak? Because my opponent was a poor player should i have made a crying call? Opinions pls.

Against a loose/passive, very easy river fold.

That's iffy. You were getting about 10:1 to call the c/r, and assuming he has a straight already you have only 3 outs to make broadway. The fact that he's passive means that you will rarely make up more than 2 BBs on the river when you hit, and often only 1 (and you could in fact be drawing at 3 outs to a chop vs. AQ).

The more I think about it, the more I think you could probably have just folded to the turn c/r, against a passive opponent. He's probably not going to c/r such a scary board with 2 pair or a set.

Fold to the turn Check-Raise.

You're behind to a straight 95% of the time here if he's loose-Passive as you say. You're drawing to 3 outs (he has one of the Qs you need) and you're not getting even close to 15-1. You might only make 1 BB if you improve but there is also a possiblity he's slow played AQ and you're drawing to a split. Fold the turn and move on to the next hand.
