How many bets do you go?
I'll try to keep this short and sweet.
You have Q2off in the big blind. Flop is QQ5 and you play it very aggressively(check-raise the flop and get called, bet the turn and get called). The final board reads QQ535, and you've widdled it down to one opponent who is baffling, to say the least (can read a board, but has had some bizarre calls/checks where he should have been folding or should have been betting with a monster, but check/called the whole way). He comes to life and bets out all of a sudden, you raise (despite the two people yet to act, they are unlikely to call one bet anyway), he re-raises. How far do you take it. I just called, figuring I am likely chopping, with a tiny chance of losing, and a smaller(I thought) chance of winning. He loved his singleton five. -Huh |

Re: How many bets do you go?
I find this post very baffling. It started out in a third-person narrative and ended with some first-person action verbs. I don't think I'm the only one who won't be able to sleep tonight.

Sorry for the confusion, this should clear it up.
I think it was clear, but if I have prevented you from a good nights rest, all the better.
How about as a Haiku? River gives top full Opponent makes it three bets A nice summer skirt? -Huh |

Much better. Tonight I'll be as cool as the other side of the pillow.

Re: How many bets do you go?
If this a goofy player, I believe your chances of winning outright is much better than your chances of losing. If the rake is capped, cap the betting. If there is more rake to come - bet just before the last piece of rake is to come out of the pot.
If he is a rock, you can just call a raise, but you better be damn sure, since this is a spot where there is very little risk to losing any $$ to this player. Often players may be bluffing an ace with a raise and decide to call down your reraise to ensure they are not giving away the pot. Bubs. |

Re: How many bets do you go?
At least three bets, when he makes it four, you can expect that you are chopping at best.

Re: How many bets do you go?
If I have the absolute nuts, I keep on raising until my opponent stops. I have witnessed on more than one occassion where a player holding an A stops raising in a KQJTX board assuming his opponent has the other A only to find out he's got a 9. I think there was an article about this subject but I can't recall where I read it from.

Re: How many bets do you go?
Well, it depends. If it's on-line, I would cap it. If it's in a live game I would 4 bet and just call a 5th bet.

I have the first edition of the book and can't recall it off hand but I knew I read it some place else. Thanks anyway.
