AQ, awkward position and stack, what to do?
20+2, no applicable reads
Total number of players : 6 MP: ( $1170 ) CO: ( $2310 ) Button: ( $750 ) SB: ( $1320 ) BB: ( $1095 ) UTG: Hero ( $1355 ) Level:5 Blinds(75/150) Dealt to Hero [ A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ] Hero ? Standard raise to 400ish and call a push? Open push? Minraise (gasp!)? Fold??? Seems like quite a tough spot, and not a clear decision. Any thoughts are welcome. |

Re: AQ, awkward position and stack, what to do?
i feelya. not much fun pushing across 5 players. you ARE at the 10BB mark, but hardly in horrible shape in relation to the rest of the table. if there was a little more disparity between the stacks (i.e. pushing across 2-3 big stacks), a 4x despite your stack size might be prudent...taking on all but a couple large stacks. as equally chipped as you guys are here (1 big, 1 short), i could comfortably push this one. you have two in the blinds that aren't calling too many here, and a hand i'd gladly take against shorty. i'd push it.

Re: AQ, awkward position and stack, what to do?
I think you can push and expect it to be +EV no matter what your opponents' calling ranges are.
So a good default is push, . Yugoslav |

Re: AQ, awkward position and stack, what to do?
With the stack sizes the way they are, can't fault you for an open push here. You don't really want to be playing OOP with a hand like AQ here. Push, take down the blinds or race it off, and maybe even get called by AJ.

Re: AQ, awkward position and stack, what to do?
I think it is a pretty standard push. Definitely +EV.
