Default Line check: Back at 5/10NL w/JJ

This is my first trip to NL1k since my bad (play) run there a few weeks ago. The reason I'm here is because of one of my fish but he's not in this hand. VILLIAN is UTG+1 and covers. His #'s are 31/6/1.4 after 40 or so hands.

The questions I have are:

1. c/r fine on the turn or play it different?
2. Since I c/r'd, was my raise too much, scaring away anything I have beat (A10) and making everything I'm behind fold?

HERO ($1000 SB)

*suits unimportant*
HERO: J J

UTG limps, VILLIAN limps, HERO raises to $45, UTG calls, VILILAN calls.

FLOP: T 4 2r

HERO bets $120, UTG folds, VILLIAN calls.

turn: 8h (putting 2 hearts on board)

HERO checks, VILLIAN bets $125

I raise to $600

1. Your turn check raise looks fine
2. I would probably raise it to something like 300 or 350 just to keep him in the hand.

Possible holdings for villain: 10J, A10, 99 or 88.

Check raise might have been a little excessive, his bet is tiny. I see no difference in check-raising to 400 and checkraising to 600.

He folded. I felt like I made a mistake and scared him away by kinda overbetting. I think it was a knee-jerk reaction after coming back into the game that killed me just a few weeks ago. Nervousness=overaggression with me.

Some of these may be mundane but I'm trying to do what I can to beat 1k next time I move up. So bear with me...

So I tried to make up for my JJ hand with this one about 3 orbits later:

This particular hand is indeed against my fish. He is like 55/8/1.5 after around 50 hands and he likes to chase as well as make "big calls." One of the big calls he made was when the table was down to just us HU and with a board showing 10d 3 6d 5 Qd he called my pot bets on 4th and 5th with A 9off when I had 5d6d (that hand occurred AFTER this hand btw).

I am UTG+1 w/Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
VILLIAN is button

We each have $1350 to start the hand.

I raise to $40, VILLIAN calls.

FLOP: 10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I bet $90, VILLIAN raises to $180

I raise to $425

Better?

I don't like a check-raise on this turn unless Villain will reliably bet this turn with nothing if you check it to him but will fold if you lead the turn.
