Default Poker on TV into Sept 1st

Since my ability to carve out time to do these weekly summaries is questionable through the end of summer period, I'm giving the sources you can use yourself (if you didn't know them already) TV Guide- http://www.tvguide.com/ and Yahoo TV- http://tv.yahoo.com/
Sign in with both, it will give you listings for your own area/cable company

USA television schedule results below are based on Eastern Daily Savings Time (EDT)- filtered from the TV Guide listings. Check your local provider to make sure you will actually get these at the times listed.
Shows may be followed by their Comcast channel (East Coast) and then the station letters.
"PDT??" means Yahoo listed this time as Pacific Daylight Savings time, but it's not always accurate. Just ??? means I adjusted from the PDT time.

I am marking the "new" poker shows with "NPS" in front, to make it a little easier to sort out things.

WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS- ESPN has two more WSOP events on Tuesday nights. WPT has the "Young Guns of Poker" tournament.

Default Correction to Poker Superstars II

"NPS" 8:00 PM Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament II CSN
This should be either preliminary tournament #25 or #26
According to Dynasty it may be worth checking out Poker Superstars II on Sunday night when the "playoffs" start.

From what I gathered, there will be four players per table/episode rather than six.

Regarding Aussie Millions on FSN, it just aired here on FSN NY at 5pm. For those of you who want to see lots of hands at a final table, this is a tournament for you. You get to see many raise and take it hands, as well as those that were a walk. Barry Tompkins and John Vorhaus do the commentary. It looks like it'll be a 2 or 3 part series.

Default Re: Poker on TV into Sept 1st

I always love Easy E's TV report (being too lazy to search myself), but I believe that the Monday 10:00 History Channel program on Jim McManus (which is indeed about his WSOP run) is NOT new. Not only did I see it before, but I remember a thread mocking it.

Believe me, one would be much better off reading McManus' book Positively 5th Street (which is very good) than watching this piece of garbage. They do the standard History Channel recreations which not only suck but don't match what McManus wrote. But they do interview McManus and his wife, so who knows...(And, on the other hand, the fake TJ Cloutier is HILARIOUS!!)

Anyway, just trying to warn those who might think this is new and/or worth watching!

Default Agreed

I hadn't seen it listed for a while and was lazy and didn't check the release date. My mistake.

As for the heckling, I fully agree. I caught part of this and it was horrible. Jim was one foot from the gutter in their over-dramatization and the rest of the show was just as bad. I couldn't watch it for very long periods of time.

It was so cheesy (the asides to the camera audience were almost as bad as the TJ "impression") that I will add this show to my blocked shows banned from my list.

It moves above the ESPN half-hour joke-fests on the old WSOP shows (whose name I've blotted from my mind)
