Re: will be signing a lease soon - any tips or things to look out for?
actually i used to being a leasing agent, for a pretty shady place....if i were you, i would do a couple of drive bys in the parking lot at night, to see who your neighbors are. it always seems quiet in the day time, when everyone is at work, but once 5:00 rolls around, people are out, playin their music loud an drinkin in the hall ways. I used to get there on Sunday mornings and ppl would still be outside, drunk, from the night before...this is probably just because of the area i worked in, but the cops were ALWAYS there (also not a good sign). At one point, one of my buildings was a brothel and another was the drug head quaters of america. hmm what else...i guess know your rights as a renter...when [censored] breaks in your apartemnt, and if they don't fxed it within i'd say, a couple days, you can do something called a 30-day notice to cure, i.e. giving the landlord 30 days to fix the problem or you can break your lease...but don't just get mad and not pay your rent...won't fly in court. you should be good man...i just worked at a shitty place...
