He's dead now. Many of you may find this hard to believe but I love the IP. It's one of the only places in vegas that isn't owned by a huge mega corporation. Their poker room isn't glamorious or fancy but the dealers are cool and the place has a very nice relaxed feel about it.

I fully expect Harrah's to buy the place in the next couple of years and implode it to make way for something bigger, newer, and a lot less personal then the IP.

Didn't Sinatra sing it that way?

You're just too marvelous
Too marvelous for words
Like glorious, glamorious,
That old standby amorious...

Very, very, very old news. The staff had to attend the Hitler birthday parties. That's how the gaming commission found out about them. There has been a ton of material written about him. I think his nazi memorabilia collection was one of the largest in the world. It was certainly the most expensive.

Good story (although four years old).

A friend told me this about 14 years ago but I never looked into it since I didn't have any plans to go back to the Imperial Palace. The IP was a half decent discount place back then, centrally located near the places you would actually want to go. I stayed there maybe two or three times from 1981 to 1991.

FWIW, the Ralph Engelstad Arena - Home of the Fighting Sioux is up and running.
