Was jesus real?

What are non-christian opinions about whether or not jesus was a real person.

What does it prove to say that Jesus was a real person. What matters is whether he was divine.

I think Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha and other ancient religious persons existed as real people, but that says nothing about whether they are divine or not, or even whether they were good people.

Well buried in my reply was my answer. The short version: yes.

i really didnt have anything to prove. i was just thinking that jesus is a pretty famous person, and he has been for a pretty long time. I am non religious, and im unsure if jesus was real or not. So, just asking a question.

Most scholars agree that a man named Jesus lived.

There are several non-Christian sources that reference Jesus, and the most significant of these was a Jewish historian named Josephus.

Jesus existing shouldn't be a matter of mere opinion. Whatever scientifically-based historians conclude is what i'm likely to believe to have been true. As far as i can understand, there is good reason to believe Jesus existed.

Something interesting while on the topic:
Jesus is even mentioned by a few Jewish scholars who lived around the same time as Jesus. They portrayed him as Kabbalah expert who betrayed Judaism for his own ego. Interestingly they told this story:

One day Jesus went into the holy temple to pray. Anyone who enters the temple is told, a now supposedly lost, 72letter name for god. This name would give you the power to pray more spiritually and to also defy laws of nature. The temple would erase the holy name from all the heads of those who exited the temple and, therefore, the name could never be used outside the temple.

As jesus enetered the holy temple, he was given the spiritual name to pray with. He wrote the name on a piece of paper and then took a knife and made an incision on his own leg. He placed the paper into the wound and somewhat stitched it. When he left, he noticed his leg bleeding and saw the paper sticking out. He then took the paper, read the name, and started to fly. A lot of people took notice and one of the jewish high priest's, who was one of the few that was able to know the holy name outside of the temple, said the name and started to fly as well. He flew over jesus, and urinated on him. The impurity of his urine forced jesus to decend, at which point the Jewish community pretty much banished jesus and looked down on him as a betrayer.
