Does card counting change basic strategy?
If you've got a -15 count midway thru a 6 deck shoe and you are dealt a 14, dealer shows a 3, should you hit? Chances are a 2 thru 6 will pop out and help you, and the dealer most likely has a 2 thru 6 as his down card. Basic strategy tels you not to hit on a 14 when the dealer shows a 3, but what about now? I haven't read any BJ books, nor do i want to be a card counter, but this popped into my mind a while ago. Can it work? What if the dealer showed a 5 or a 4?
I think you should hit more often in very low count situations. And since the count is so low that you know what's coming next, shouldn't you raise your bets a little? Not as much as a +15 count, of course, but higher than the minimum. |

Re: Does card counting change basic strategy?
There is a critical index for most situations, although only a dozen or so you need to know. IT depends on the count you use.

Get Sklansky on Blackjack. [/ QUOTE ] I respect Sklansky a lot when it comes to Poker. But, why would someobody just get this book when Wong's books are clearly "where it is at"? "Professional Blackjack" is a must. craig |
