Betting may gain you the occasional look-up call from Ace high, but other than that and perhaps 22 there's no hand you beat that will call. On the other hand every hand that beats you will call a bet. There's very little value in betting.

There's every chance your opponent has a busted draw which he might bet, so check-call has more chance of putting a bet in good than betting does.

Guy.

Unless he is super passive I like check/calling.

Well played. I think the only value-bet hand that might call a river bet that won't beat you is an Ax that missed & this will be rare.

[/ QUOTE ]

Even if he's super passive a check is right, unless he's also very loose with river calls.

Against a loose-passive you can bet; against a not-so-loose passive, check-fold; against most, check-call.

Guy.
