Teeth whitening trip report
There have been some threads on this previously so thought id give a quick trip report....
Was looking through the Valpak that came in the mail awhile back and found a dentist that was offering a new patient special on Zoom in office whitening for $299. Normally this procedure costs between 500-700 depending on the market. I check to see if the DDS is in my PPO network because i needed a check-up anyway and as luck found have it she was. Didnt know what to expect from a dentist with a first name Mana, but it turns out she graduated from dental school in 2001 and was also quite cute. Nice added bonus! Anyway, back to the procedure. They load your mouth up with guage and jam this plastic thing in it to keep it open. Next they apply some waxy, resin thing to your gums which takes about 15-20 minutes. Then comes the first of three 15 minute light sesssion. The 1st went by quickly, toward the end of the 2nd i was experiencing a little bit of sensetivity, and the last 5 minutes of the 3rd session had a whole bunch of sensitivity. It didnt really hurt, it was just like hot/cold pains you sometimes get when you have a cavity. So the finished product... im very very happy. Eight full shades whiter and i look damn sexy. They might get 1-2 shades brighter over the next 48 hours. Im suppose to eat white food for the next couple of days. At the moment, the only pain is the occasional sensitivity, but that should disappear soon. Was it worth $299? You bet. Would I have paid $500? Yup. Smiling bigger then ever, cubs |

Re: Teeth whitening trip report
How does this compare to commercial teeth-whitening products?
I've never used Whitestrips, etc., but from others I've gotten the impression that they're a hassle and they may not work too well. Obviously, the professional session is going to grant far, far better results, but I'm poor and I don't feel it's necessary. |

Brite smile and Zoom are the two types of in office whitening. From my understanding they are basically the same procedure but Brite Smile seems to cost a bit more. So if you dont feel its necessary... maybe the white strips would be best for you... |

Ice is not getting anywhere near my mouth for a good 3 days. The two teeth that have fillings are quite sensitive at the moment... but it comes and goes. Am waiting for my secret stash of pain killers to kick in... maybe ill chase'em with a glass of wine... white of course.... |

Re: Teeth whitening trip report
Just curious - did you pick the level of whiteness that you wanted? How white can you get?

Re: Teeth whitening trip report
No, you cant pick your level of whiteness. Basically, you just have to see how your teeth react with the bleaching agent. It all depends on age and why your teeth are stained. You cant have any major dental work on your front teeth either because it wont look right...
